1.1 Gearbox

   Hi all,
   I recently started feeling a vibration in the accelerator pedal as I accelerate in 2nd and 3rd gears, along with a sound like the vibrator on a phone.
   I notice that there is a lot of play in the gearbox and so am on the lookout for a replacement, does a 1.1 gearbox have to be replaced with another 1.1 'box or is it a fairly standard sized 'box, just with different ratios? Would say a 1.2 'box put more strain on the engine than a 1.1?

   if i was you i wouldn't bother putting another box in other than the 1.1...assuming you have a 1.1. engine?

   for starters there isnt a such thing as a 1.2 saxo
   
   secondly, any 106 or saxo box will fit, they just have different ratios
   
   so putting a 1.4, vtr or diesel box on your 1.1 will make it awfully slow
   
   a vts box is quite similar to the 1.1 box
   
   and no, different boxes dont put more strain on the engine.

   Thanks Martin, yes it's a 1.1 engine.
   Sorry I didn't know that there is no such thing as a 1.2 Saxo, it was just used as an example anyway.
