sportex shit design

right so i bought a mani off ebay for a mk2 vtr and the lad who i bought it off didnt know what brand it was but im pretty sure its a sportex! mild steel with the short bit which bolts of about a ft in length. yeah anyway after rubbing it down and painting it with heat paint coming to fitting it and none of the holes on the manifold flange/plate lined up with the studs on the block? anyway drilled the holes out with a stepper, then the next problem was the washers, because of the dogshit welds had to grind the washers flat! fuckin ball ache! anyone had similar problems!

Most people who buy supremo cheap manifolds end up having to modify them to fit. Any pics of what you had to do?

i havent sorry, i found out the gear link problem when i fitted a saxsport, fitted the system, went to go for a test run and wouldnt go into 2nd....hmmm bit strange but 3rd will do....wouldnt go into 4th or reverse, problem being the manifold didnt line up and the saxsport clamp was quite big and got in the way, going to heat it up with some oxy acetylene and bend the fucker to fit!

Ha ha are they fuck they are made of possibly the shittest stainless possible have ultra thin pipes and surface welds done by a small child in china.

The race land puts the toyo to shame and even they are not the best.

I have a customer and I think he has more of my welding on his toyo than the welds it came with.

Want to have a quick re-read there?

    I said Most.
Cheap manifolds are hit and miss, some fit, some don't, some will crack, some wont. etc.
Just because you got lucky doesnt mean everyone else's will be fine.

Tbf they do look shit lol, and look like they would rust within a month, then fall off the next.

Famous saying of. "you get what you pay for"

to be fair i did a tidy job of rubbing it down and spraying it with decent paint, few patches have flaked off but at the moment no major rust, will do till i find a SS

I personally like my manifold to have a thick enough material that the heat does not melt my induction kit.
Cheap cars make people want to buy cheap modifications whether they are good or bad. For high quality design, material, manufacture etc you have to pay more.
The Raceland was ok in design as they 90% copied Supersprint, but fell down on materials, fitment and manufacture. When you compare the two side by side you really want to start saving.

I second that.... still have it on mine now. No oil filter relocation either. Works fine. No cracks and its burbly as fuck. Made my throttle response nice and sharp aswell...

If i thought it was shit and caused problems, i'd say, but it was genuinely good for the price.

    I heat wrapped mine aswell.
