Saxo using lots of fuel??

I have a 1.1 desire and it's shocking on fuel. Been driving it for a few days done 60 miles on nearly half a tank surely that isn't right? Only has an induction kit and back box. Just wanted to know how many miles people are getting from there saxo's.
am debating taking the induction kit off and goin back to standard there but I don't think it will make much difference

I'll bet your fuel guage is broken or not reading right (normal )

Fill to brim, drive distance, fill to brim.

see difference in miles since you filled up.

Should be around 8.5 miles per litre for a normal 1.1 (35mpg?)

Around town this can drop to 22mpg! that would certainly bring you down close to half a tank in 60 miles. the top half of the tank drains faster due to it's shape

the lower half should take longer to go though.

If it is genuinely faulty, I can only think of a MAP sensor or a green coolant sensor on it's way out giving high resistance values causing it to run rich. if it's using as much fuel as you say it is, then it would be popping all the time too.

It idles fine and runs smooth. Could just be the shape of the tank maybe.il brim it next time I fill up and see what I get from that. Any rough ideas on the mileage I'd get from a full tank?

Depending on your driving style, and if you're in towns a lot I'd say about 350 miles before hitting the red light. certainly no less than 300 miles. I can do that in me 106 GTI

Haha lets hope I can beat that then! Got a gti sat on my drive ATM engines coming out and goin in the saxo when I've got the time and the weathers better

GTI is worth more, why not wait and make it mint?

To get any benefits from putting that engine in your 1.1 what you're going to effectively have to do is put the saxo body on the GTI parts - I mean everything. suspension, brakes, master cylinder etc all of it!

    And the leather seats too

It was a mot failure mate. The rustiest 106 I've ever seen. Yeah I know the deal and how much works involved. All the suspension-engine+box-wiring-return fuel line. Sold the leathers mate they were shot aswell! So just gonna break it and make a bit of cash back on it

    Service it

Looks like it had one not long ago oil still looks fairly clean. Might just get rid of the air filter and put new spark plugs in it

I've got a 1.1 5 door desire x reg totally standard other than 15'' alloys and i get 450 from brimmed to red light.
The majority of that is motorway though.

I thought mine was a bit dodgy, mine also crackles and pops, uses silly amounts of fuel and feels underpowered, nearly put me off saxo's!

Mine like that too I have a 1.1 eastcoast and it uses more fuel than my mums 1.8 passat :/ but my heaters don't work and I've been told it might be my thermostat and the ecu thinks its on cold start all the time and over fueling it

I've changed the air filter for a new k&n and seems to be going okay now. I'm upto 145miles and still just under half a tank.
