crank pulley? that won't have anything to do with it starting really

have you checked the fuel cut off switch. might of activated if you let the car down to aggressively. unlikely tho

Sounds like an unrelated fault imo.

what do you suggest i do guys? it sounds like it wants to start but cant? l

Is it turning over? If so, immobiliser??
  6. #6
to make it easier for ya. if there's no fuel AND no spark then your immobiliser has kicked in y0.

Seem odd though, that pulley isn't near anything...
  7. #7
its trying to start up but wont it turns over and its not immobiliser could changing the pulley affect timing or anything like that? it started up first when it was first changed but had lack of power woulnt go over 20 mph and wouldnt rev and now its gone completely im thinking of just scrapping it
  8. #8
Removing the bottom pulley exposes the cambelt but unless you've moved the it on the pulleys, or actually taken it off, then I doubt thats the problem. Sounds like you have an electrical fault. Are you getting fuel and spark?
  9. #9
yes getting fuel and spark had it serviced just before aswell and now the plugs are black?
  10. #10
If its got fuel and spark then it should start providing its got compression. Tried some easy start? Always worth a punt as an easy test.
Check the timing is correctly set too
  11. #11
what did it sound like when you tried to rev it beyond 20mph when it first got started?

    If it sounded like
this then you are in trouble

just wouldnt go like it was restricted and when i went up gears in wouldnt go any faster? im truely stuck none of this happened untill that pulley got taken off and now problems?
  14. #14
    not loud and clunky?
  15. #15
no :/ ever since the pulley got changed the car doesnt start?
  16. #16
you said it started first time after the change and ran awfully though?
If you've messed up the timing it could have bent the pistons or something and screwed up your engine but if its not being loud then thats probably not the case, the fact it was restricted and now won't start sounds like an immobiliser problem
  17. #17
Does it sound like its making compression when it turns?

When you changed the pulley did you in any way tighten/move the centre nut on the pulley? If so you may have put the timing out.

I'm sure the timing pulley on the crank is keyed so it can only go on one way. So even if that bolt was removed the timing should not move.

Surely op only removed the aux belt?

mine ended up being a fault code, cleared it and it started
  21. #21
have fault code reader on it today came up air temp sensor and vehicle speed sensor, cleared it nothing happened, getting fuel through getting spark but still wont start? just sounds like it wants to start, but wont i have no idea at all what to do with it
  22. #22
how do you know you are getting a spark? have you had the coilpack out and tested the plugs earthed against something?
had the injectors out of the head still in the rail to see if they fire off?
  23. #23
    yes mate
  24. #24
Ok next step is checking the timing and compression
  25. #25
code reader says something about manifold compression sensor?

    the MAP sensor probably.

What was the actual code you got?
  27. #27
had that changed and still not that i have no idea what to do now anyone interested in buying it 190 pounds?
  28. #28
How did your grandad lock the engine when he unscrewed the crank bolt?

    Where abouts are you?
  29. #29
nottingham & i have no idea this all has happened since the crank pulley got changed but its wobbling more than ever now? what could be causing it to wobble and not start? could he installed it wrong?
  30. #30
hey jamie best pm prickle as he had pretty much same problem few weeks back

Re time the engine up ya jumped it tooth or two by the sounds of things ya ment I lock the fly wheel off when unbolting the pullys etc witch I bet you didn't do
