Right heres a quick query, start the car up from cold and itll idle around 1200 1300 rpm. let it get hot and it still idles around 1000rpm. unplug the cts while running revs shoot up and it goes into a default setting of running rich - thats fine. however when i plug the cTS back in the revs gradually sort themselves out to idle at 800/900 which is a bit more like it. Anyone else found this with their coolant temperature sensor? I would change it but it means opening the cooling system up and if it's not necessary then I won't do it

#2Are you running an oem cts(ie a genuine one from citroen)I ask because non oem cts run at different values which may account for your problem.
-
#3It looks original but the plug is light blue, all oem ones I've seen are green with a yellow band. However this is an s2 rallye engine so not sure if its standard
-
#4Has anyone else got a light blue one in their mk1/blacktop? Bare in mind its not the one for the dash gauge which is light blue as thats a different size thread and much fatter
-
#5I`ve got the same engine as you mate & mine uses a green cts with a 19mm thread.
-
#6I'll have a check on mine in a minute mate as mines a Mk1 blacktop, i'm sure mines got a light green and a light blue one near thermostat housing, will re-post in 5 minutes after ive had a gander for you buddy.

That's mine. But grubby but definitely blue -
#9Mines definitely got a light blue one mate and mines a mk1 blacktop
-
#11got a picture? so you should have two light blues one for the gauge further back and the one in my picture above
-
#13Sorry I meant the other guy with the blue sensor
-
#14Heres mine, ones a very light blue with a green connector and the other is a darker blue with a blue connetor, ignore the oil i did the headgasket before the snow set in and never got round to cleaning it up -.-
-
#15Like identical to my setup. Cheers mate, just out of interest - not sure if you've ever done this, but if you remove the gauge sensor (the one on the right) did water come out of the coolant channel?
-
#16Ive never had it out myself, i'd imagine so with it been in the water jacket in head, its only a separate sensor for gauge
-
#17If you ever do let me know, mine doesnt go into a coolant channel but I dont think the rallye heads like mine put that sensor in a coolant channel
-
#18Yeah i will do, i'll give it a try tomorrow as ive got to bleed cooling system up again after changing thermostat and not had chance because of weather :L
-
#19if you would that'd be great. I think there are too designs of coolant channels in various heads
-
#20No worries mate, glad i could/can help
Will repost tomorrow after tea-time and let ya know
-
#21thanks pal
