1.4 Furio Door Problem

  1. #1
Bought this furio about 3/4 weeks ago and when bought it had a passenger door problem (I know nothing about cars as you could tell by "door problems"...) and they said they would fix it. Car was delivered and passenger door was working fine. But door was beginning to drop slightly. Past 2 week it's dropped massively. Had some guys look at it from work and they spotted that the hinge(?) is cracked and needs rewelding. Pictures below

Also I noticed that the door has been scratched near the bottom which I think the wind pushed the door to far previously. I'm not sure. Also if you notice in the picture below is that the body work doesn't quite line up with the rest of the car. Is this normal?

So my questions are: is it easy to repair? and How much is it to repair?

    Thanks.

Might be as simple as replacing the door mate. Also, was this saxo from a place called Hyams Autos as it looks similar to it. Had my eye on it for a while.

Not sure where Hyams is,. I live in Cheltenham but I picked it up from Wilfred's of Sussex. The car has been going from dealer to dealer. How much is it to replace a door?

Not 100% sure mate, depends on where you're getting it done, if you pick up a similar color door from the scrappy and then get a few mates to help work on it then probably could cost less then 50 quid and a pack of beer.

Is it easy to fit a door? I'm no mechanic! Okay thanks for your reply. So it's not just a welding job?

The cracked weld on the hinge will be the problem mate. you need some one who has a hinge tool to get the door sitting right then to weld and paint it back up.

Its a common problem with welded hinges specially on the older fiesta's not a expensive fix just a fiddle to get the door sitting nice.

Yeah would be better with a body shop they will more or likely have a hinge tool. If I was you I would just get it welded up then get some aerosol matched up at halfraud's and use that with it been in there will work out cheaper for you and no one will ever see it.

It is my first ever car I'm not really bothered about paint etc. unless there will be visible discolouring.
