#2yes it will pass no problem aslong as its fitted securely.
-
#3Cool,thanks,i was talking about a ECE approved safety belt anyway.
-
#4iirc, it needs to be a seatbelt style buckle, not aero-style to technically road legal (I'd need to double check that if pushed on the subject) but mine with aero-buckles passed two MOT's just fine.
-
#5^ What he said. It needs to be a seatbelt style buckle that joins the belt bits together. Having said that, I believe that the only reason one twist aero buckles won't pass is that they don't have the requisite colour markings (the red bit on the push to release bit of the seat belt). The simple answer is to paint the aero buckle red

#6Okey,these are the 4 points i would buy anyway.Quote:iirc, it needs to be a seatbelt style buckle, not aero-style to technically road legal (I'd need to double check that if pushed on the subject) but mine with aero-buckles passed two MOT's just fine.

They write: ECE Approved For Road Use,so i shouldn't have any issue with MOT. -
#7Mine passed no problems

#8I'm sure I've read somewhere that FIA approved harnesses with an aero buckle will now pass too, came in fairly recently I think.
Somebody else can go and have a look at the MOT rules though. -
#9on rally cars and track cars you wouldnt have any problems anyway, Testers know how dificult it can be to get a competition based car through an MOT so harness buckles is probably at the bottom of the list lol.

#10I wouldnt bother with those ponsy things.Quote:Okey, these are the 4 points i would buy anyway.

#12Go for the the OMP Racing 4M, has the push button release, 3" wide shoulder straps and is ECE approved.
Or, double at the price, the Schroth Profi III-FE ASM

#13Interestingly, the standards required for FIA, do not match those required by VOSA, (i doubt the mot tester will even notice mind) The seat belt needs to meet BS 3254 standards or whatever the british standard mark is.
IF you were to then have a crash and be injured, if the insurance had the car inspected and you had an FIA spec harness that wasnt BS (bull-shit) approved you could run into some problems.
But, as some have said, i doubt the MOT tester will even notice.
Also, as Ross said, you cant have aerocatches, you need seatbelt style buckles.
And i cant remember the angle, but you have to mount the shoulder belts of the harness's far enough back to get a desired angle, EG, if you mounted them straight down 3inches behind the seat and left rear seats in it would fail.
I once had to mount harnesses in the p100 and had to put a trimmed roll cage hoop across leavel with my shoulders to mount shortened shoulder straps on. -
#14Mine passed with no issues when I had the aero style ones.

#15Get some 4 point 3inch TRS ones they are usually pretty cheap.
My car passed with aerocatches too years ago. -
#16What's the probelm with the ones i have posted? they don't look like a cheap product to me,if you could please tell me that would be appreciated, since they are security devices they must be safe, thanks.

#17they look shit.Quote:What's the probelm with the ones i have posted? they don't look like a cheap product to me,if you could please tell me that would be appreciated, since they are security devices they must be safe, thanks.
and when worn correctly (tight) they tend to cut into your shoulders as they are only 2 inch wide.
as said look for some used trs or similar harnesses 3" wide.
normaly loads on ebay as they have gone out of date for stage rallying etc and are pretty cheap.
i got some ex-stage car 4 Point 3" red TRS harnesses with clip in style mounts for £50.
you can get some bargains if you look. -
#18I think they're referring to the fact they're only 2" straps.Quote:What's the probelm with the ones i have posted? they don't look like a cheap product to me,if you could please tell me that would be appreciated, since they are security devices they must be safe, thanks.
Edit:rick_VTR got in there first. -
