Handbrake light flickering!

  1. #1
Was driving down the motorway last week and my handbrake light came on, in a panic i checked and the handbrake was fully down, then after about 30 seconds it went off, and didnt come on again, now its flickering over speed bumps. My guess is a loose connection somewhere? Does anyone know at all where the wire is located so that i can check it?

    Thanks.

no worries pal, just the way some cars indicate low brake fluid level is by making the h-brake light come on, and as you said it flickers as youre going over bumps it most likely will be that i think

Mate whats the best way to fill the luid up? literally pour it in or bleed the whole system? then fill it up?
  15. #15
no need to bleed it up or anything mate as there would be no air in the system, just simply take the cap off and fill to the max/just under max mate

sweet man, just looked in the haynes manual and talks about bleeding the system, for a second i thought a 30 second job would turn into a ball ache. You reckon a 250ml bottle will be enough?

Top it up! Forget bleeding the whole system, having to bleed the radiator was friggin bad enough lmao

haha erm yeah should be, cant really picture how much 250ml is but yeah just get that and top it up, shouldnt take much if the light is only flickering mate

Its not alot really tbh, might just get a 500ml to be on the safe side!

yeah man , just top it up to the max line or just below it and you should be fine

I'd rather read too much than too less mate

Definitely go a size bigger than you think necessary, total ball ache when you don't have enough half way through a job!

Just had a quick check of the brake fluid on the way to work, the car was on a slight gradient so i know this will slightly effect it, but it looks like there is enough brake fluid in there?.........only thing i can think is that the handbrake sensor has come loose or somehting....
