what about a brembo or ebc replacement? price is pretty similar to oem ones.

After my mates accident with EBC ( the disc broke in two ) and my own personal opinion of them ( over rated ) I wouldn't touch them again. Go for a good set of pads like your mate has.

I only ever run standard discs from motor factors

Its all thats needed tbh unless you wanna save weight and go belled rotors lol

Saxos dobt generate enough heat to warrant fancy discs

I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who's experienced brake fade on a Saxo (admittedly only on the track).

Back when, my dad fitted a pair of drilled and vented discs on his RX7, i can remember (bare in mind being about 14) there were some hair line cracks from the drilled holes.
Im guessing they had heated and contracted funny.
Since then never had a set.

Ive warped a set of really cheap discs i bought from DMA, but just your normal discs and pads have always been fine on my saxo, like Alex said really.

    Thats a pad problem
    Not discs
I tracked my saxo plenty last year on standard 247mm brakes and discs
    Ap racing 5.1 fluid
    Cl brakes rc5+ pads
    No fade

Then swapped to high spec 285mm 4 pots and again stock material discs and mintex 1155

Brakes are not as easy a subject as you might think. Stick with a 'quality' brand. These companies make sure their raw materials have a consistent iron content. You therefore do not get mismatched discs, or a set from a 'bad' batch.

Drilled discs are a waste of time. All you will do is increase wear on your pads, and decrease the disc life as they will crack eventually.

Get the best pads you can afford. These will cope with high temperatures without fading. I'd be using Ferodo DS2500 on a road car or Mintex M1144.

I get break fade everytime I drive my favourite road its kinda scary to the end of the last few corners tbh.
