howling noise

Came round a fairly easy bend on a a-road last night, halfway through the corner a horrible, pretty loud howling noise appeared. Its not revs dependent, seems to appear above 25mph-ish. If you dip the clutch it changes pitch slightly. Non-apparent sitting still. Kind of hard to tell where exactly is coming from

    Im thinking driveshaft/cv joint.

    Opinions?

Is it the bird in the passenger seat howling away?

I keep the bird in the boot.

Hope its not the box, might have a stab at a new shaft as im sure theyre original items.

Mine is doing the same on my 106 and it's definitely the shaft, jack your car up and feel the cv joint against the shaft and feel for any play, mine there is a lot of playing and you can rattle it around so I know it's had it.
