#2Maybe krank pully? Or water pump? It can be revved out, or if I start car and just rev it slightly it doesent do it
-
#3I had this problem on my 1.1, the alternator belt was too slack, literally tightened it up a few notches and the noise was gone.Quote:I've swapped alternater and belt, swapped tensioner and still does it, while I had alternater belt off I started car and the noise was gone! #4Tried all that
-
#5Alternator bearings.
-
#6It can't be as I used a nut gun to spin the alternater up before I put it on and it sounded fine
-
#8Most likely the crank pulley deteriorating if you have tried a spare alt.
Unless the belts fouling on the timing cover at the bottom.
Didnt watch vid as on the mobile.... -
#9Just watched the vid, its sounding more like bearing related noise. Could be wsterpump but itd still do the noise with no alt belt on.
-
#10Does the noise get louder if you turn on the A/C? if you got one.
-
#11It doesent get louder but it can activate the noise
-
#12Sorry if I put lights on that can make it do it also but only during first start up in morning
-
#14Would it not do it all the time though
-
#17dead alternator for sure then.
-
#19Alternator bearings
-
#20My mates golf does this and i'm fairly sure he said it's the alternator bearings
-
#21Ask him mate
-
#22Going to try a spare crank pully, hope this works
-
#23Asked him pal and it was the bearings
-
#24Just a update for anyone who may have similar problem, was the crankshaft pully, the rubber that joins the inner and outer ring was causing the outer ring to slip on cold start up and also under electrical load ie turning steering , winding windows up, lights, hope this helps
