It seems its gonna cost a lot to tune my 1.4, pointless in putting a vtr in and also very expensive to convert to a vts......wht power are 1.6 xsi engines and will it go in my westocast cos there alot cheaper on ebay etc

#2i think xsi engines are a bit older than vtr`s.. and to be honest i dont think there is any difference..
you get what you pay for and buying an older engine would perhaps have alot more milage and its probably been screwed.
go for a vtr because its more or less a straight swap. -
#3ye iv been looking on ebay and the vtr engines loom and ecu are going at a decent price 2, will ther be any benefit in using my 1.4 box if i did do a vtr conversion? i no many ppl say theres not much difference in the engines but the £300 odd id pay for a system n air filter cud go towards an engine and labour and id have a guaranteed 15bhp increase!

#4well my mates 1.4xsi will beat vtr's, well mk1s with ease!! but now its cammed and stuff its pretty much keeping with vts's
-
#5ohh come to think of it mate his engine will be for sale soon! think it produced 120bhp when it was rolling roaded not sure tho! its a 1.4xsi engine with skimmed and gas flowed head and cams! he will probably have his manoifold for sale as well as it wont fit on the gti engine hes got for it! very very quick 1.4 trust me goes past my furio as if it was going backwards!!!
-
#6how is a vts engine conversion expensive? if your buying loom ecu etc its still a straight swap... or a pug106 gti engine if not a vts thats what im going to do £500 for engine etc and my an my mate are going to fit it plus vtrs really arnt that much quicker than a 1.4...
-
#7ye like u said £500 for vts engine etc, and u and ur mate are gonna do it which wont cost much in labour but im gonna have to pay for sum1 to do it 4 me cos i aint gotta clue! i no what ur saying tho, prob the same amount of work as fitting a vtr? hence the same price labour?

#8just put vtr engine in 1.6sx ..inlet manifold doesnt fit..anyone done this before and knows how i can get round it??
-
#9I think the 1.6 xsi engines are 108bhp not 100% sure tho!!!
-
#10the 1.6 xsi has 105 bhp... from memory... and the 1.4 100
-
#11hmmmm i thought the vtrs were a fair bit quicker then the 1.4 xsi
only reason i say this is know people with both and i go past the xsi's alot quicker than the vtr's
