Trackday Discs and Pads?

  1. #1
So my saxo is only driven on the track so nooo road use at all.

I am after the best performace brake pads available on the OE caliper, I was thinking EBC yellow stuff front and rear pads and then Brembo Max Discs front and rear?

Is yellow stuff calipers the best option for money for souly track use??

And has any body had any experience with the brembo max discs??

    Thanks dan

Brembo discs at the front with Carbon Lorainne pads.

    I ran rc5+ in my 247 setup

    Brembo OE discs
    Carbon Lorraine RC6 pads

Never think to swap oem bigger discs?
I have 266mmx20.5mm disc and caliper (taken from a 206CC 1.6) and they work really fine even with EBC Green Stuff. They stay under 14' and 15' rims without any problem.
The diameter makes a big difference, if you use the car only on the track you may think about it.
I guess you can find a compete swap for about 150£ or little more.

EBC are not very good. Consider them a budget brand. Diameter of the disc is only a concern for heat, but a good pad does not have an issue. Pagid are good but so expensive.

Forget Brembo Max. They will not stop you faster than a plain disc. The grooves can help de-glaze a pad, but you are better off buying a pad you wont glaze in the first place.

Plain brembo OE discs and CL Brakes RC6 are more than enough for a dedicated trackday car. You will run out of talent before your brakes die.

Yess. But make sure you're running good tyres or find yourself locking up a lot.

All i ran was budget discs (28 quid the pair) and rc5+
    Dedicated track car
Did 20+ minute sessions all day long on them
Even to the point the brakes were doing this

    They didnt fade at all

What about discs wearing with RC6 pads?

Brembo discs and omp carbon pads

How do you rate the OMP pads? They are a good deal cheaper than the ferrodo DS range and Carbon Lorraine
  18. #18
We find them as good as carbone lourane. they just wear a bit quicker

They have a high iron content so when cold are very abrasive. Because of this they really should not be used on the road. On track though the hotter they get the less they wear the disc.

I can vouch for the CL RC6 pads. They're awesome.

I found these pad wear to be very high, but are a very good pad. But the rc6 pads better, and also wear is better on the rc6 pad.

I have found them to be fine, always a bit of warm up time, cool down time ect, I found them to be very good on the disc
