Right peeps am half way through changing the timing belt on a mates vts.. everything has been put back together properly and the new belt is on a tight... ish... the car seems to have the belt tight in some areas but then goes fairly loose in others . Ive rotated the engine 4 times by hand to see if the white lines match up again and they dont.... are they ment to? Thing is after 4 turns of the engine the white marks on the belt dont go back to were they were but the car is back at tdc as i can put the 5mm drill bit back through flywherl and both drill bits through the cam pulleys :-s any advice would be good lol cheers

The white marks on the belt wont line up again for many more rotations due to the ratio of the crank/cam. The lines are there for initial fitment of the belt to ensure the correct tension between the crank running up to the cam on the non-tensioner side of the belt, as long as the timing marks line up (i.e timing tools in your case) then everything sounds ok. Just make sure that you check your tension after turning the engine CLOCKWISE only....it shouldnt be slack but at the same time it shouldnt be as tight as a bowstring
