Crankshaft / pulley query

  1. #1
Ok people just removed my crankshaft to have it knife edged and balanced but also need to take my crank pulleys in to be balanced as well.
My question is: is the crank pulley the one that's attached to the end of my crank shown in pics and if so what's the best way to separate it from crank?
    Thanks

    lol

remove the bolt, but that's just the hub for the aux pulley, don't you have a nice light alloy one?

given them your clutch and flywheel and crank, that's all they need.

    Knife edging a standard crank?

    Who's doing that for you.

Why would you want It knife edged?
Cranks proven to be good to 9k as they are.

Would make the car rev quicker

I think the difference will be negligible,
    For the cons.
I assume you are going to use a billet fly?
As that would make a far bigger difference.

Correct mate ye going for the billet flywheel rather than have the standard one lightened and balanced

So after removing bolt from the hub for the aux pulley it's still not cooming away from crank even tho bolts out any ideas how to separate it from crank?

    Use a puller.

You still didn't answer the question to as if the engineer shop has explained the risks of knife edging a standard casting.

Surely any decent engine machine shop/builders should be able to remove a pulley for you.

should be able to remove the pulley yourself if you've got the 22mm bolt out, its just a slide on fit with a woodruff slot.

Ye they could I would just rather move it myself to save taking it to them and telling them to remove it. Lol

Didnt you think to remove it while it was still in the engine

Put it in a soft faced vice and undo it, or just let the machine shop do it cos it will be clamped in place anyway obviously.
