Driveshaft Hub Nut Removal Help

  1. #1
As title really. Im fitting new springs and need to remove the driveshaft nut to get the strut off the car.

With the brakes on it still turns, This is with the car switched off by the way.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Start the car and try with the brakes again. They work better with the engine on due to vacuum on the master cylinder.

If still no luck, put a spare wheel on so the nuts still accessible and drop the wheel on the floor. Put something under the wheel to stop it rolling and try again!

Wheels on and then dropped the floor is usually the way to go, sod undo-ing them just by using the brakes. Also having wheels with removable centre caps helps here too, saves a lot of fannying. Dont forget to do them up to FT (aka fucking tight). I like to do them up to 210lb/ft which is the max my torque wrench will do then a bit more of a tweak with a big breaker bar

it'll help if you drift the indent out with a punch....... Never had any probs with the nuts not coming off as long as the bar is long enough. put 2 wheel studs well into their holes and thread a big bar between them. Rotate the bub till the bar locks between the bolts and hits the floor....undo nut. Simple
