front left strut making a horrible noise

  1. #1
right so basically my passenger strut is making an awful knocking/clunking

i lowered it new dampers and springs (first time i have done this)

im thinking ive knackers the track rod ends as when i move the rim from side to side it moves a fair bit but the strut moves with it

ive got new droplinks balljoints n track rod ends coming but getting fitted by someone whos better than me

any other ideas what the noises could be

    ta x

i had a knocking noise once before. replaced everything. even new dampers and springs. It went when i converted to coilovers which i summed it down to the bottom spring pan making the noise

Where you at? Alderley Edge still?
I can come and have a gander if you want.
I remember having a similar problem with mine, narrowed it down to the Wishbone bushes.

mine was knocking i change the droplinks/wishbones/track rod end and it ended up being the top mount

Has it only started after you fit the shocks/ springs? If so its likely that either the top nut on the shock is loose of the holding cap for the shock is loose. Id go over everything youve undone to double check

Yea after I fitted but I did use a big hammer lol

Ah ok, id go over everything again see if you can get anything abit tighter. If it wasnt there before fitting the stuff its got to be something loose really.

I'd say you have left something loose or the top mount isn't seated correctly

I have the same problem and mine squeaks over every bump too. Quite annoying!

turned out to be a loose damper collar
