Can't plug in rear lights cable

  1. #1
    Hi guys

After changing my rear offside brake light, I can't plug the cable in properly to the unit. It goes in far enough to just about make all the contacts but won't clip in. Any ideas what to try to fix it? I am having to regularly thump the unit to get the backlight to come on and the police are bound to stop me soon

    It's a new style Saxo, 02 plate.

    Thank you In advance.

Press the metal clip & push the plug in at the same time, also make sure the pins on the plug aren`t bent.

One of the pins in the plug does look a bit suspect, although I can't see how it would stop the plug going in.

Does anyone know what the pins coming out of the plug are called? They can be taken out of the plug with a pokey bit poked in the right way... If it needed replacing, what is it I need to get as a replacement?

    Thanks again in advance...

You`d need a plug from the scrappies with a reasonable amount of loom on then splice it onto your existing loom(after cutting old plug of)

Thanks for your reply stevo67. Bit surprised that these little pieces of metal that make the inside of the plug are not a standard type...
