i couldn't really say mate as i have never been in one or raced one, apprently it costs a bit to get them running quickish so i hear!

Can't believe you are asking this question when so many factors need to be considered. I assume traffic won't be one of them on your private runway.

got a airadrome round corner so we always go on there, and well see when he gets it like

Few exhaust mods and induction kit plus lowering springs and rear arm spacers and ST's are a fun little car to drive.

weight wise yours will win, and those zetec/duratec engines are unbelievably sluggish, i reckon you'll do him easy

Duratec may be sluggish in standard form, but get tuning it and its a right little gem.

oh yh no doubt, they're pretty reliable to an extent aswell

Its a good engine just unlike most non turbo hot hatches of the period isnt highly strung as standard. Fit a mountune tuning package to it and they really fly, but I reckon a Gti is more than match for one. After all see the old topgear video from yeatrs ago where they put a vts against a ph1 172 which is lighter and more powerful than the ST and the VTS kept up

To 80/90 GTI will pip it, above that the ST will pull a little.

Boils down to driver and gear shifts too.

It's all down to whether the ST has racing stripes...... if it does then your fucked

    Standard. Slow

it will be a nudge quicker, not by much.
But its a pretty chavvy thing to say if im honest.
Get down to santa pod and get some times in, prove who has the quickest car.
get to a track day, see whos the better driver!

My mates had an ST and Gti respectively and they were matched quite evenly on acceleration but the ST had longer legs so eventually pulled away. Therefore he will be quicker but he won't 'smoke you'
