Drive shaft replacement

  1. #1
Are these Drive shafts off ebay OK for a replacement? Don't want to order them, get them fitted and them brake again in a week or 2. They have 2 years warranty so they can't be too bad?
If not any sugestions on a better make? thanks.

I bought them the other week. So far so good. Search in google "J&R driveshafts" only thing is the black paint doesnt last very long lol..

Oh well they can blend in with the rest of the underside with rust. Is it best to replace both driveshafts instead of just the 1? I think that's what I read somewhere anyway? Don't see why though if 1 of them is al rite.

My passengers was making a awful noise but just replaced both to save future hassle. Only £99 for 2 delivered anyway.

What kind of noise did it make? Cause mine is making a massive rumble noise that vibrates the car... but not 100% sure if it is even the drive shaft or not

Did it on full lock. Awful noise.

Those shafts are good for the money, my car had a pair fitted but they were dead after 35,000 miles. Just my feedback.
Given you have a 1.1 i would imagine they would be fine though.
You dont have to fit them in pairs.

Could also be a wheel bearing

I got a passenger side one from jr driveshafts last year, no problems so far, but as said above, it looks like its been on there years.

Need a drivers side one now though.
Cv boot not split or anything, but jacked front up with wheel off and let engine run with clutch just biting and it sounds like a plastic bottle full of stones rolling around.

Will be getting this from jr driveshafts aswell.

I've done 34,000 miles on one in my 1.5D. it wasn't an easy life and they don't even rumble yet nor are the boots split.

I'd bet it's the inner joint. Had that exact same problem on an old Cavalier, anything over 20 MPH and it would shake like a withdrawing druggy!

Pretty sure these are the same I have on mine. Replaced them in October time. So far so good.

Glad it's sorted. At the time it cost me for tracking, all wheels balanced then new tyres, engine mounts and finally the shaft. Was a right pain is the arse!
