Just bought my wife a '59 C4 Picasso, the key fob has seen better days though so I have been looking on ebay - before I buy one I want to know if its possible to fit the original key blade into the new fob or do I have to have the new blade cut? I have already posted on the C4 owners forum but they dont seem to reply wereas Saxp always has an answer

also depends wether the key is coded aswell. most PSA cars have a little chip in the key that disables the immobiliser.

For my C4 i just went to the citroen dealership and got one. Was abit expensive but i just figured 'sod it' the key will work. No hassle.

We used to have a C4 and the spring went so I bought a new body and moved the electronics and blade into the new one. Or are we talking about the 2nd key, which isn't a flippa?

Its a flip key and its the newer style fob 3 button fob with lock/unlock and headlight button. It seems that all the electronics like the immoboliser chip is all housed on the circuit board within the fob its just the blade that I want to be sure that I can swap, if I can avoid having a new one cut Id be happy

Thats the same one our C4 has. As i recall Citroen charged about £100. Key wasnt much, but they rip off for the programming.

Yeah programming is a rip off but that not a problem as the key works fine at the moment its just the key case thats tatty, so I intend buying a new empty case and swapping everything as long as I can swap the blade over along with all the internals.

Ahh ok, well i cant remember what the key cost. They sell them, you dont have to get it coded, i have a receipt for two services, key, then code. Go in and ask how much for a key shell.

Yeah I pass the main dealership on the way to work so may just pop in and see what they say - think ebay may work out cheaper though
