Installing GAZ coilovers

    Howdy,

Wondering if anybody has a link to a detailed thread about fitting these coilovers to a VTS (if the model variant makes any difference)

The problem I'm having is that the lowering thread piece/the piece that I move the black clip on and down to determine the ride height, won't go the whole way down the strut like pictures in other people's threads.

There is a lip on the strut which stops the said piece moving down any further.

Below is a pic from another thread where the thread piece is down all the way.

Also I'm having problems as how to use the shock retainer piece, this piece has to fitted to retain the shock inside the strut right??

    Thanks

Is that something that everybody has to do or is that what you would reccommend doing??

    Cheers

the shock retainer is there to hold the shock in the strut, make sure its done up tight or it will end up bouncing in the strut causing problems

not everyone has to grind it, but some people find it easier to

regarding the shock retaining collar, ive used an oil filter removal tool (bike chain type) to tighten that bit. Either that, or tap it round and round with a punch using the little notches in it. Can be a bit fiddly sometimes, clean and grease the tiny threads, might make it easier. It doesnt have to use up all the threads there, but make sure its tight

This. Just grind it off - it's not uncommon to have to do that.

out of interest, is it still possible to put the standard bottom spring pan back on after running coilovers?
