1.1 box in a VTR advice.

From someone whos ran one in a VTR how was it?

Ive read the ratios and understand they are shorter, but the VTR isnt a peaky engine really, 5K+ its breathless so not sure if the shorter ratios will equate to better acceleration.

I would be interested to know how fuel economy was effected and if performance was notably improved.
    cheers.

Had one on mine for just over a month and hated it. Yeah it seems to pull quicker but on the motorway you are sitting close to 4k rpm at 70 drinking the fuel.

4k at 70mph is high that says enough tbh i find vtr's use a hell of alot of fuel as it is and with the 1.1 box you will probably ragging it about, then blow your box some people will enjoy it some wont

You obviously haven't driven a well built one like mine. Mine gets amazing mpg when booting it and when driving sensible.

Not sure on how many litres a tenner is mate but from 10 litres I can do 94 miles with a little left over. (distance to my old work and home)

On my last 3 tanks ive had 44/45/44mpg out of mine.

I will have to buy a box and do a 1/4 and 0-60 RWYB day down at York, get a few runs with the standard box and then swap to a 1.1 box and get some runs in and post results.
Might be a day out for this summer.
    thanks guys for the input.

Your engine is far past it, why are you still driving it!

Had a 1.1 box on my vtr, was much more fun but as said with an exhaust it annoys the shit out of me at mororway speeds, also starts to lose steam around 110mph, but just feels like it pulls much better!

I had a 1.1 box in my VTR and it definatly pulled better with the shorter ratios, but unfortunatly the gearbox didnt last the year, i can only assume that the 1.1 gearbox is weaker and obviously want built to handle the extra torque/power in the vtr, since that box i have had a vts gearbox and that seems just as good but has longer ratios , and it did a 16.0 1/4 Mile but the 1.1 did a 16.7

Vts has slightly longer final drive doesnt it??

As for longevity, mine lasted 50k miles over 3 years
