Hi guys went over a hump backed bridged at 60 not relising the drop on the other side caught some air and landed it soon as I hit the tarmac the rear end collapsed. No breaks at 60 as soon as it landed. Pulled over and its just sittin in the arches wheels touching the sides. Gotbogot out the car looked at rear end and its just on its arse break fluid leaking from back left pipe where it meets rear of drum had too drive it a mile rubber smoke pouring everywhere eventually back left tyre popped then I managed too get it too my destination. Any ideas whats happended lads need help. ??
rear end totally collapsed!!!! rear break failure help!!!!

#2Pics? What sort of height did you get?
-
#3Fuck me pics needed
-
#4Wil get some in the morning. Could of been no more than a foot to be honest mate. Grabbed both wheels no movement at all. Think I need a new beam?
-
#5sounds like the beams collapsed and ripped the brake fittings out somehow, but pics are needed. Could have damaged the shell
-
#6Think you need a new boot floor mate!
-
#7I can see where the pipe has just split right where it joins the rear drum
-
#8Fuck me 1.1 power ripping the rear beam apart!
-
#9I do have rust in the rear. In the boot. Is itbpossible its just totally come through the boot.
Ano mate haha shes some beast haha -
#10Sorry to make light of your mishap, but i`ve got to see pics of this as i`ve never seen a saxo do this.
-
#11Its not the first time ive seen/heard a beam come through the boot floor like if it was a big enough landing and the rear was hench with rust then its likely thats whats happened.
-
#12Dont worry about it mate I am puzzeled aswell. And gutted! Cant believe it looks good though its on its arse haha well in its arches lol
Hope thats not the case! Might aswell scrap it if the full boot is bent fucking french
hope I havnt killed her
-
#13Bump stops have hit and bent the shell above them out into your tyres
Seen it a few times including on my own car
Open your boot and look at the sides
Cars a write off usually from that..... -
#14Lesson learnt
I did exactly the same with a vtr misjudged a crest
Lucky im not too shabby with a hammer and a welder i repaired mine
Never really drove the same though -
#15Only paid 400 for the car like will try and get it back in parts. Is there any other things it could be except the worst possible thing ( bent shell) keeping hopes up ha
-
#16Very slim chance but could it have snapped the torsion bars (or stripped the splines)? Jack it up and see if the trailing arms swing freely. Having said that, my bet is that it's stuffed the beam through the floor. A quick look in the boot will tell you.
-
#17Torsion bars 100% intacked I believe lol. Didnt think of looking in boot too busy thinking what am I going too do. Going too go upp too the yard where I have put it in the morning and have a look at the damage. If there is no bending or any of the mounts coming threw the floor is there a chance the torsion bars have failed?? Or is bending of the boot the only thing that would hapen in this case
-
#18This sounds epic manzi got bare camberz y0!
-
#20Your torsion bars might not be intact any more chap! It might be that the sudden impact of landing from height has busted the bars. Very unlikely, but possible. How much air did you get by the way?Quote:Torsion bars 100% intacked I believe lol. Didnt think of looking in boot too busy thinking what am I going too do. As I said though, most likely a beam through the floor/massively bent floor job. Whatever's happened get pics! We wanna see this! -
#21Yeah pics will be up tomorrow lads just wanting pictures of body. Boot. And underneath? ?
-
#22Yup, boot floor, underneath and internal, pic of how it sits at the mo from the side and rear both sides (for camber and epic low lolz if any). Also, if you can be bothered to take the rims off, get a pic of the inner arches as well. Lets see how badly creased they are!
-
#23Haha taking pictues for everyones amusement haha wish it was a quick fix
-
#24Most things are fixable if you have a big enough hammer! ;-) lol! Seriously though, it's interesting from an engineering perspective to see what happens to saxos in various impacts.
-
#25yeah i see where your coming from mate. been up this morning and my worst fears have been confirmed boots bent in half splits either side off boot pictures following shortlyyy
-
#26lets see this2 users thanked this post: ,
-
#27Ouch! That's definately broken then! Would be interesting to know the extent of rust (if any) in the back end as that may have contributed to it collapsing. Has it actually driven the beam mount though the box section at all, bent the boot floor into a pyramid shape, or has it driven the boot floor completely away from the side panel seams? Or all of the above?Quote:yeah i see where your coming from mate. been up this morning and my worst fears have been confirmed boots bent in half splits either side off boot pictures following shortlyyy
Note to self: don't jump saxos, they break! lol! How much air did you get and how far did it fly by the way? There might even be a tyre mark or two from where you landed. -

#29get a pic of side on so you can see the camber or under neath
-

cambers on the wheels are fine look straight as a die

#31Massive let down. Still scrap it though, that floor is fucked
-
#32Not as bad as you were making out
I was expecting the inner wings creased up and the floor more lifted exposing the road.
Still i'd scrap it and start again. -
#33breaking this car anyone wants anything let me knowwww
pictures dont doo it justice i can pushh the floor boot down on either sideand fit my hand threw the gap that i have just made haha, inner lef wing is creased right in pictures later on once i get it on the jack i will take a load soo you can see the reall damage looks pretty okay but believe me shes fucked
-
#34I know its "fucked"
just scrap it and start again. Nothing is worth selling off a 1.1 -
#36No one wants parts from a 1.1. You might be able to sell the gearbox thats about it
-
#38No bets. Hidden scam

keep an eye on this one aswell.
hur hur hur -
#40sorry but look in the for sale section (when you have 100 posts). People have a hard time selling sought after parts let alone cooking model ones. You are best off weighing it in
-
#42Meh, looks pretty grim. Not as bad as I was expecting but bad enough. How rusty was the back end out of interest?
Anyway, doors, wings, headlights, bumpers, gear box etc etc are all saleable. Depends how much time and space you have, and if you can be arsed to split it really. You might even get a bit of money for the engine if someone is looking for one and your's is decent and has service history. (I had to do a straight 1.1 to 1.1 swap in my sisters car a while back). -
#43as said, theres nothing particularly wanted from 1.1's except the gearbox and doorcards from a desire model which yours isnt
-
#44pictures dont really do it justice too be fair. yeah rust was pretty bad just flaking away, people say no one wants the parts yet people manage too sell hundres of saxo parts on ebay, just becasue no one on here wants them doesnt mean the 6,973,738,433 citizens in the world wont want them there has too be buyers out there and i aim too sell
you guys will see ( the doubtful ones)
-
#45Good luck with that.
I've seen the same Saxo/106 in scrapyards for a couple of months with the same panels on. -
#46Cheers for your positive and fauithfull attitude lol, thats a scrap yard mate it doesnt have 223 million vistors a day unlike ebay trust me they will go. Eventually haha
-
#47

You will be suprised how many people actually go in scrapyards tbh. Once you sell on ebay minus the fees, listing and all bullshit. Also to worry about stuff getting lost in the post gah gah gah
not worth the hassle -
#48I wish you the best of luck in getting your money back but we are just trying to inform you that its highly unlikely and probably not worth your time. Feel free to repost how close you get to the £400
-
#49
al be coollll
-
#50Didn't know Colin McRae was still alive.
-
#51Sorry it turned out bad mate, out of interest how much do you charge for this unique lowering service?Quote:pictures dont really do it justice too be fair. yeah rust was pretty bad just flaking away, people say no one wants the parts yet people manage too sell hundres of saxo parts on ebay, just becasue no one on here wants them doesnt mean the 6,973,738,433 citizens in the world wont want them there has too be buyers out there and i aim too sell

#52People will want the lowerd beam... Hur hur.
-
#53If in doubt, bottomed out
-
#54haha deffaintly bottomed out lads, right i have a question for everyone, can i get this repaired and how much will it set me back because in theory all i need too do is cut the boot floor out and weld and new one in and then refit axle? is this correct?
-
#55Mines lower than that at the backQuote:
-
#57Possibly, depending on exactly what's bent and where. Question is, with that amount of rust in it, would you trust it afterwards? The entire rear structure of the car may have bee compromised due to the shock of landing. Either way, It'll be a fair amount of stuff to chop out and weld decent metal back in properly and make sure it's all aligned correctly. A small misalignment where the beam bolts on will mean that the car doesn't track straight or behaves oddly when cornering etc.
