Gearstick

   Hi ive got a manual gear box and when the car is in first gear the stick wobbles quiet abit... prob around 2/3cm each side... I know this isnt normal, but it is a big problem? Doesnt seem to effect the use of gear stick/ changing gears.

   Mine is the same. Some prat at a garage told me its fine and normal. Felt like slapping him in the head, its like he was trying to take me for a dickhead, or just didnt want the work.
   
   Its not normal it should be nice and tight and smooth.
   
   Its probably your linkages, selector or roll pin.
   
   Mine is proper wobbly and its because some dicksquash jabbed a bit of metal in the selector arm to create a make-shift roll pin, it doesnt work.

   Just to add, mine is like a wooden spoon in a pot of jam. Makes the car feel like a bag of bollocks.

   Gear linkages are worn buddy. Mine also does that and when i got underneath i found the inside of the linkage arm was worn away.

   Mine done the same mate I changed the linkages and it was a bit better so I changed the roll pin and the bush at the bottum of the gear stick aswell feels nice and tight now

   typical valeo box, they had that problem for longer than I can remember. Roll pin or complete linkages at worst.
