power steering pump help

   Firstly i cant use the search button on my phone...it wont work (i have tried)
   
   Juat turned my vtr over for the 1st time in 5 months and it started 1 st time. But the power steering pump is making a whining noise as soon as the ignition is on. I had nonpower steering when i started it...then it came back on but the pump is making alot of noise even before the engine turns over.
   
   Any help would be much apreciated.

   too be fair mine does this on a daily basis. Garage said its normal and my steering is fine. I have even changed the pump. still does it lol.

   Really ? Cause it quite a loud noise...i turn the ignition ao all the lights come on and it makes noise. Wven when im not touching the wheel... doeant make much sense to me

   its just the pump on its way out. its unpredictable how much more life you'll get out of it. Might pack up completely next week or might work for the next 6 months...
   
   give the metal part of the pump a tap with a hammer
