If its just your speedo not working then it could be a faulty speedo drive on the gearbox. Its just a sensor on the gearbox near the diff side

acctualy the rpm gauge is making trouble ,speedo works great

My fault lol...First id try removing the instrument cluster and checking the connections on the plugs, see if that makes a difference

    Check the flywheel sensor

Is it a petrol or diesel model?

On diesel model, the engine still runs when this sensor fails.

It could be the connections on the back of the dials.

it is diesel ,today worked great ,cold start -1 celsius and no problem ,i'll see what will go on in next few days and try to fix it over weekend ,just another question martin ,i have a vibration problem in car ,that back plastic that covers 3rd door(booth) on the inside and whiper is cracking and making nasty noises on 1500-2000rpm is it fixed like doors with those plastic thingis or screws ?and i have brake problem ,am running low on discs may that cause a bit squeking noise when turning ( stock brakes) ?cheers

I think your flywheel sensor is broken. that would stop the tachometer from working.

The plastic on the boot has a couple of torx screws, then it just pulls off.

Old discs which are warped can squeak when you turn corners.

Could be mate ,last summer i changed clutch set so maybe mechanic broke it ,what do you mean warped ,is that worn ,old or ? (sorry english is not my native ) and does you car's pk belt squek a litle ,mine did even after changing it ,solved it a bit with silicone spray but 20 days later did the same thing ,and noise is just when it's cold and when decelerating (going of freeway or longer drive ) .sorry for bothering but i just don't come accros a lot of diesel owners

Yes, the belts squeak when it's raining. maybe tighten it a bit more?

I think the mechanic has maybe broken the connector or the sensor.

When brake discs get old, it is easy for them to warp a little bit. you won't feel it but it can be enough to make the brake squeak. The only other thing I think it could be is a wheel bearing, there's no need to replace it though unless it is really annoying!

    Diesel is the best!

Great car ,no car has that mpg ,and in my country mot , insurance , taxes , registration etc. is like 110 pounds for it .I will try to tight it a bit more ,and discs are like belt after longer freeway trip when you go like 10 mph they squeak a bit and when you go around corners ,i think wheel baring is fine no problem in steering in any way ,altho new winter tyres made him a bigger slug than it is ,really affected performance and mpg ,and for the belt it squeaks in the rain because it doesn't have any cover witch is very stupid tho ,i have to give my car a good wash because in Serbia they get calcium chlorid onto the pavement and add salt on that in winter (last winter kicked us in the ars with over 1m of snow and -20 ) so that thing bites everything ,it may cause my belt problems also
