anyone give me a step by step on how
to mesh a mk1 grill, supposed to
    be easy?

yea its fairly easy, is it the grill with the black plastic centre though? or with colour coded centre. i grilled my black plastic one (off a T reg) easily, but not sure about the coloured one, get back to me for help.

easy. take the grill off by undoing the bolts on the top, unscrew the current vents. clip the plastic clips off, cut the mesh to size. i used fibreglass resin to stick it in...leave to dry...job done.

    well, starting at the beginning..
to take it off, undo the bolts, and then go inside the engine bay, push down the tabs on top of the indicator units, and pop the indicators out. there will then be white clips below where the indicators were, take those off each side. be gentle, but just pull it off.

then unclip the black plastic bit, and disgard. i found it easier to cut off the clips on the coloured bit with a stanley knife, then lay the mesh onto the back of the grill, making sure its completely level, or itll look bad. i then cut it with mesh cutters,(similar to normal pliers) and i fibreglassed the mesh in place and left to dry for two days.

    fibreglassed the mesh

how do i do that, will i

i bought a tub of fibreglass mix, just mixed in the hardener in the ratio the box says, and stuck it all around the edge of the mesh, keeping it outa view. if you take ur time its worth it, stronger than the tube stuff. i spose "no more nails" would hold it, but i wouldnt guarantee it.

no more nails is crap doesnt stick properly, you want tiger seal from a local car store (not halfords or motor world).
