Lowering; is it technically Legal or Illegal?

Hello people! just wanted to know to save any problems with police/VOSA in the future! Lowered my car around 100mm on the back and the front will be around 90ish, as far as I know there is no law or restrictions on how low you can go as long as the way you lower your car is not dangerous (ie. cut springs) Or am I wrong?

    Cheers

its fine.... go as low as you want..... but can get in shit if your that low you are damaging roads and the old bill sees you.
just to be 100% safe when you lower it tell you insurance, then the police cant do you for invalid insurance

Cheers lads! Also I've always wondered this; can the police see if you've declared anything to your insurers? Obviously if they crash then you'll get arse raped by them but if your just on the road is there any way they can tell?

takes them too long to do but they can request it off your insurance, never known them to bother though unless your car is stupidly modified. but you will get raped by insurance if they find out

faaackin' hell. So now it isn't just a shed, it's most likely an uninsured one. And 4 threads to come to that conclusion. Fiver says he bottoms out on the second corner, police gets involved and the purchase of a decent lube becomes necessary.

You can get done if you cause damage to the roads surface.. scrapes ETC

There needs to be sufficient suspension travel. At that height there is virtually none especially on the front with the wishbone next to the front bush coming into contact with the chassis.

It can be done well and safely by using good quality parts that are carefully thought out and put together. Search for LEE_VTR1's old Porsche grey Saxo

I've seen and taken off the road a number of modified cars which are unsafe. Generally the majority of modified cars are put together extremely well, are looked after with no expense spared and because of that are often the best maintained cars on the road. Those ones will generally be left alone unless you're seen driving like a prat or have an attitude when stopped, in which case thorough checks can quite happily be made with the insurance company at the roadside.

Do it properly or not atall.

Nahh It'll get declared if it's that much of a problem, it's only a 1.1 so I'm not bothered about the speed side of things especially with it being a first car, I'd rather have something slow and build upto a VTS maybe once I've had time to get used to it... If it was a VTS/GTi it would be at a more practical height for obvious reasons, but everyone I know has low cars so I'm just being a sheep really
