Important! : knocking sound when i turn the steering wheel

    i got a mk2 saxo vtr
and when im turning at low speed i get loud knocks (about 3 from center to full lock either way i turn)
i had a mechanic look at it but he seemed a but useless and he couldn't figure out what it was.

If you sit with the engine running and move your wheel left and right without the wheels turning does it knock then?

If so it's probs bottom arm that's what my mates was

Park up and turn from full lock left/right, you will hear a mighty clunk and it will be the top mount bearing (mine does it atm, due to replaced next week) as are the track rod ends.

When driving and turning full lock 5-10mph it turned out to be my driveshafts. (might not be for you). When driving over every single bump it turned out to be my both ball joints/topmounts. Changed both lower arms and it still does it. Leaves left the top mounts and track rod ends. Trial and error

if im wrong fair doos im just going by what ive changed.

could be a faulty seating spring on the shockers...or even broken spring

also could be the shock loose inside the strut, mine used to do this when the gold coloured caps which hold the shock into the strut came a bit loose.
