2.0 8 Valve for saxo??

  1. #1
Hi guys been while sinece been on here....

Basically im looking for a 2.0 8 valve engine to fit my saxo. It has to be 8 valve as thats the class im looking to run the saxo in stage rallying. There is no restrictions as to what i can modify on the engine.

Just looking for advice as to what engine to put in the car that can get good power.

    Thanks in advance.....

What power are you looking for

Can make the 8v vtr engines pretty nippy if you got the money, but if you're looking to put a 2.0 it's not going to be cheap anyway really

Ive currently got the 8v vtr in the car. Would be interesting in staying there if could get around 150bhp outa the engine. In general what 2.0 engines would be best to go for in 8v?

You can see 150hp from the 1.6 easily.

2.0 8v engines that are on offer are abit gash really assuming you want to stay N/A

What sort off money would i be looking at spending to get 150bhp on the 8v vtr. I currently have 4-2-1 manifold, Full stright through exhaust, Piper intake manifold.

    So basiclly its pretty standard.

The 2.0 does not really fit in very easily so its hardly worth it. I'd change car...

No id rather keep the Saxo. Im very happy with it. Ive the handling set up very well and have a very strong clean shell thats well built. So maybe my best option is to spend money on the engine i have..... But were to start

If you have the handling just as you'd like sticking a 2.0 in the front will only fuck all that up anyway....

Best off doing what you can with the 1.6

Fit a 1.6 Peugeot 106 S2 Rallye engine. They can run some wild camshafts on a standard inlet.

I dont know whether you can run the 1.3 alloy block, fit the S2 crank, rods, pistons with a bore out to 78.5mm (maybe a 205 XS block) then its lighter..

If not an engine swap, then run the rallye head and inlet on the VTR bottom end....

I take it you dont have to stick with standard inlets and can go the route of throttle bodies? Theres been a couple of s2 rallye engines in cars on here with headwork, a lairy camshaft and a bit of bottom end fettling that made up in the 150~ range. I'm sure the owners of those cars will help

Ebat there is a 1.6 8v on bike carbs and 4-1 manifold £300

    Manic

I wouldnt want a bike carb conversion. Usually shite and dont live up to expectations. I'd personally hold out and see what proper conversions are sold. There will be a nice new one on the market shortly....

give john @ gmc motorsport a buzz. he used to own a very rapid little 8v ax.

i am sure he will spec you up something nice. straight to the point no bullshit or gloss.
