Central locking.. Key fob

  1. #1
Had the sax about 3 years now, never did get a fob and keep forgetting to ask about it

They did a few, what's the score with getting one programmed, do I need the one specific to my car or can I get one from any Saxo?

Pretty sure I kept hold of a single button one a while back

(03 on a 52 plate if it makes much diff). Not aware of how many diff set ups there was, just know the old ones were infra red and had the sensor on the map light console..doubt I can use one of those ones

    Help

reprogrammed by citroen. i;m not aware anyone can do it. and being citroen it really isnt cheap. when my fob broke, they quoted me £60 to look and diagnose problem £80 for new fob and £110 for labour and reprogramme to car. and wanted car for 6 hours.
i walked awy laughing as i went next door to car audio place and they done a all singing and dancing clifford alarm fitted for £210 with two fobs and only took 3 hours.

I know anyone with good diagnostic gear can reprogramme, just wondering if I need a certain fob, have thought about a better alarm too, would definitely be a sound investment

What about asking Bristol Street Motors ?

Keep my eye on this as I only have one key and fob.

This can be done with lexia 3 as long as you have original key fob and virgin transponder fairly easy

Mines stopped working completely. I thought it was battery, But still not working, then the metal bits broke inside. Fuckin so filmsy.

As said above, you need a lexia 3 to programme it.
Or or poss other locksmiths software.

Or just get the control box (bolts to the back of the fuse box) and a fob from a scrappy or someone breaking as saxo.
Make sure they are paired up and working

This is the RF style of fob for a mk2

This is the IR style of fob for a mk1

Other option as you said is get a decent alarm..... that’s what I did after both my fob disintegrated.

Mine have always had aftermarket alarms, my first a Cobra, this one a Clifford.
Im not sure how much they cost start to finish to fit, but they brought my insurance down and i know that Citroen charge a fortune to sort keys out.

My lass' uncle works at Citroen, and know plenty ppl with decent diag, so no buggy there, main thing was which fob really,

I had a decent cobra on my old vtr, should of removed it when scrapped car tbh

Rather than fuck about with my original central locking I bought a cheap central locking box from ebay and had the local car lec's plumb it in. Think it was either 2 or 4 wires they tapped into and hey presto, jobs a gooden.

If you go that route giz a shout and I'll let you know what wires go where, saves you 40 notes.
