    Looking to fit an oil temp a pressure gauge soon so seeing what the buzz is.

    What's better,
    Digital or analogue.
    Electrical or mechanical.

    Where do you mount yours too?

    Digital electrical. As long as they are not bargain basement they will be more reliably calibrated. It's just basic maths. analogue on the other hand requires some person to calibrate them in design and manufacture. never trust them

    Electric for me, don't want hot oil or water in cabin.
    I also prefer analogue for ease of reading, but that's down to personal preference.
    I wouldn't buy cheap gauges, I'm more than happy with my Stack set-up.

    I'm using the race tech oil pressure/temp because of space, it wad the best one for the price as leccy ones were allseperate. Looks like a good piece of kit though!

    @simon, that's tidy, good to see gauges can fit in the stereo space.

    So electric analogue seems to be the best choice.

    not seen combined pressure and temp,but mabee racetech do them?
    i use smiths ones now. white faced electric analogue needled,
    originally i had a set from an old audi,they where the standard 52mm black faced and worked lovely.
    when i next need some gauges il be using the rallydesign ones, when i was looking for a boost gauge for the hdi i had a look at theres, and they are the same as my smiths ones,
    100% made by caerbont (sp) who make the smiths and half the racetech and apparently most the stack ones too. and sensibly priced.

    get gauges with a stepper motor. there supposed to be very accurate. defi make the best gauges but are very expensive. a company called autogauge make stepper motor gauges for about £40 i think.

    What ranges (1-8, 1-10 etc) are best for a saxo?
    Or is it more down to personal preference.

    Also, what are the optimal/safe readings for oil temp and pressure?

    Me personally...
    dial electrical


    It only take a glance to see if the needles are straight up with a dial but a digital you have to read them... Eyes off the track for longer...

    Oil temp 40-150
    Oil pressure 0-(8-10) bar

    Mount the dials so that when all warm and good the needles are straight up... Then glance down see the needles upright and all is hunky dorey
