    Posting on behalf of a mate..

    He bought a 106 GTi and it was fine for about 300 miles then started hunting, and he just sent me this text to post on here..

    ''Basically my problem is... The car will now start fine, after changing ECU and Coilpack but it hunts sometimes on idle which makes the entire car and engine shake, not as much as it did but defiantly still there, sometimes when I'm driving along all the power will cut out even if i put my foot to the floor then suddenly it will kick in again and flys off, when the car is at high revs the car drives fine, no lack of power etc. Any ideas? ECU, Coilpack, MAP Sensor, Inlet Manifold and throttle body has been changed, its when your in the low revs around 2k rpm or at about 20-30mph it hunts and eventually dies''

    As far as i know, when he starts it after dying after the hunting, its fine, then eventually will hunt again..ICV possibly?
    Any ideas?

    Could be ICV give it a clean,

    Sounds to me like the map sensor as it sounds like the car isnt getting the air/fuel mixture right.

    Check for bent pins on all the plugs.

    possible fuel startvation, check fuel filter and pipe for any kinks?
    air leak somewhere?

    Could be lamda sensor its where id start for a missfire/bogging issues on these cars tbh

    I wouldnt think fuel starvation that would cause problems at higher revs but a fuel filter swap never hurts tbh

    Same thing going on with mine mate dies around 2-3k only sometimes though replace coilpack and just replaced tem sensor so going to see if that helps will let you know

    Ye I've had this with mine. Take it out n give it a clean. Worth a try. Its nice n free

    had a similar prob with mine changed all sensors still the same new injectors and still was doing it then put a 4.0 bar fpr in a sorted runs perfect now

    Cheers guys is the Black Plug Lambda on the 16v the same as the Green plug on the VTR? as i've got a spare he could try!

    Try the cooling temp sensor mate mine has been running better in very we'll since I changed it
