Water In Drivers side footwell

  1. #1
    Hi,

Hope somebody can answer my question. I didnt use my car over the weekend, then when i went to get in on Sunday (it was raining) there was a little puddle of water in my drivers side footwell. As i was driving water was dripping on my leg.

It has since not rained where I am so dont know if this was a one off. I contacted local garage and they said it is probably the Scuttle panel blocked, but would need to look at it.

If this is blocked how easy is it to clear it as would like to have a go myself on the weekend, rather than pay somebody else to do it. The thing is i dont know much about cars, so where would i start?

If there is already a thread / guide to doing this somewhere with pictures that would be great if you could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

Gotta agree with the garage. Sounds like its blocked up. Should be an easy 5 minute job mate. Probably clogged with leaves etc. as you open your bonnet look below the windscreen and you should see a gap, at the bottom is a hole. Clear that hole. Might have a nice layer of crap on top of it so might need to dig lol.

    Hi,

This problem is still happening, whenever it rains I get a puddle of water in my drivers side foot well.

i have checked scuttle panel and unblocked, checked the sun roof, that is not blocked, i have sealed around my windscreen, and still the water gets in.

If anybody has ever had this and found the solution i would be grateful as it is getting annoying now, and it is definitely rain water that this getting in, so not the heater matrix leaking.

any ideas and I'll be eternally grateful, thanks.

A windscreen not fitted rite usually causes this , is your heater matrix/pipes ok ?

I have sealed my windscreen so shouldnt be that, regarding the heater matrix / pipes would that let rain water in as it is definitely rain water that soaking my floor!

have you checked the door seal at the top of the door?
recently had to replace mine as i had the same problem when i got my saxo

the other rubber seal may be clogged up with dirt etc.....just going on what i was advised to check....
on mine the top seal was worn and that was letting loads of rain in

might involve taking the dash out to trace it and do the old hosepipe trick and watch for leaks. Ball ache I know

Put your hand up under the dash on the passenger side as the heater matrix is located there.it could be leaking. Also the aerials are prone to leaking around the base.

    Hi,

Its not the aerial leaking as have taken interior light out and all dry around aerial base. might have to take dash out but just waiting for a dry day as don't have a garage!
