hi so i failed my mot on the front springs beign too low 60mm apex aparantly the springs are too long and i was told to put the standard ones back in or "propper ones as the man told me"

just wondering for a retest if i put standard sprigns will i have to raise the back again as well ? even though itll look stupid will it pass being high at the front low at the back?

    Springs too long??

You sure he did t say shock too long for the spring causing it not to be seated properly

What? Something doesn't sound right here.

maybe i misunderstoon what he said says on the sheet spring excessiive movement nearside offside , he told me to get propper springs where his exact words

The only reason I've known a low car to fail is when it's too low to get onto the ramps?
What does your failure sheet say specifically?

spring excessiive movement nearside offside is what it says

being honest its not that low it passed on everything else i just dont know what to do now can i just put standerd ones in the front again and go in and get it retested on that? or will i have to raise the back back up as well the man just had it in for the boy racer lookign car in my opinion

So he originally said the springs are too long? Or did he not? If he's saying there's excessive movement in the spring it could mean this: When i fitted some 45mm faulkners to my car, when the strut was off but everything assembled, you could move the spring around slightly, it wasnt putting pressure against the spring pans at both ends and you also didn't need spring compressors. So when he jacked your car up this is probabaly when he saw

Sounds like youve got 60mm springs but still in standard shocks so when the tester has jacked up the vehicle and took the weight of the suspension and with the lowering springs being shorter than standard, the springs rattle round. Stick standards back in and leave the back end

yes i have the standard vts shocks just.

will they not say anything about it being high at the front and low at the back or because its a retest can comment on the things it fails on its very low and stiff at the back and if its high at the front i think it will put alot of pressure on the back end

and yeah i said to him they're new sprigns and he told me they where lowering springs and where too long and to put standard ones back in,

The shocks are too long for the springs.
Should be ok to just raise front for mot bud aslong as its safe.
Currently doing my MOT training and cant see it being a issue.

buy the correct shocks to go with the springs!!

as by the sounds of things you could end up with a displaced spring whilst driving this could cause an accident

    As above.
Iv seen people fail at 60mm because the spring us loose when jacked up.
Just a case of buying the right shocks.
