Bodywork/Tigerseal

  1. #1
Hi really need some advice, I'm new to this website, I bought a saxo vtr a couple of months ago and everything was fine when I bought the car I paid two mechanics to check it all over they had it on the ramps and everything now about 3 weeks ago I had abit of a prang in the car which yes was my stupid fault, now I've paid a body's to do all the repair and what not the rear axle got replaced, rear quarter has been replaced also I've replaced full set of disks and pads, now the body is still getting done and the guy rang me yesterday saying that the car must have been in an accident before because the whole of the front end has been TIGER SEALED, now he said that if I ever what to replace the lights or bumper it will be a pain to do because of this as he said it been done to cover it up as a botched job.

Any advice would be great, although I'm going to have to keep car for a while now as I've spent a fortune getting all the other bits n bobs that need doing.
Will the car still be safe to drive? The body shop seems to think so, he reckons no one will notice it at all.

    Sorry for ranting.

Welcome to the site by the way! It might just be that the arches and stuff have been tigersealed?

The bumpers arent known to be well attached the body on these cars, I tiger-sealed mine on purely because they kept falling off lol.
As above, get some pictures up and someone might be able to help you further

Mainly the front plastic arches have a tendancy to fly off at speed or hitting water/ deep puddles fast and people just tiger seal them on just for piece of mind

Thanks for all the replies!! Really appreciate it, and yes I will eventually put some pics up lol, can't seem to work it out at the min, and yes I am a dumbass I did read the guide to doing it but still cannot seem to get my head around it lol.
The reason why I was worried was because I thought it might be unsafe to drive if its been done to cover up a previous accident. Well I pick the car up Friday morning so hopefully will get some pics up soon.
    Thanks again.

Thanks again.[/QUOTEAlso the guy rang me up again and he said that the reason why the front end has been tiger sealed is because the panels and bumper don't match up to the framework. And it will need jigging and welding in order to fix, he's quoted £300 to do this. Wouldn't really have the money to get that done for a while as I've already spent a lot on getting the rear done.]

Sounds like you don't know alot about cars.. Also sounds like the garage has picked up on this and trying to rinse you for every penny possible.

Go over it yourself to make sure what they are saying is right.. Get a second opinion if your not sure what your looking for.

    Get some pictures up.
