locking wheelnut issue..

so i bought a VTR a couple of weeks ago now...

and ive been doing various bits of work to it as it was a bit fubared..

just come to put the locking wheelnuts back on and discovered..

the wheels the car came with... 3 where of the kind with the tapered nuts.. and one wheel without the taper... that had been fitted with tapered nuts... and is a result.. ruined.. hey ho..

now ive put some other VTR alloys i have onto the front (with tapers) and just with three nuts for the time being so i dont potentially kill another two wheels..

but... am i correct in saying the locking wheelnuts that came fitted to the car are no good are they...? as they wont fit down into the hole properly due to their much wider taper..

man i went on a bit there..

no they are the wrong ones, But in reality the locking wheel nut doesn't doo much other than lock the wheel on. You are only suppose to tighten them to 90nm of torque so they are pretty loose tbh. Also if they are just standard vtr wheels then just do away with the locking ones and replace with standard. No one will ever nick a set of vtr wheels, Most people give them away any ways.
