so found a decat for my car, i have a 4-1 raceland mani, catback back magnex system, my question, is a decat worth it? will it sound any different, and will it add noticible difference or is it just aload of faf?
is a decat really worth the hassel?

#2a decat was one of the best mods i ever did to my car
Not so much for performance gain, just for the change in exhaust note. I only had a backbox before, added with the decat, it made it so raspy. Pops and bangs all the time. Love it -

#4Didn't like it in mine tbh. Too much effort replacing it for the mot. Also the place that mapped mine said it wouldn't give much of a gain with it removed from their past experience.

#5For me its a cba.
Not sure if the fueling will be correct either with it reading false air constantly. -
#7God knows.
Im just putting out there for someone on here to put the answer in -
#11No it will run lean if you are running a mk2 with the 2 lambdas. unless you get it mapped to suit.
If you are running a mk1 with just the one lambda then de cat it all you like. It will still pop and bang as the fuel that is un burnt in the cylinders will not be burnt up by the cat. -
#12correct ^ will only run differently if you have a sensor after the decat.
For the price of them these days (£20-30 for mid section decat), theyre very cheap -
#13Short answer, no

#14mine drank fuel like no tomorrow, got a 421 to be cheaper than a new cat but amount of fuel i went through could bought few cats, i wouldn't but completely up to you mate, just make sure both lambers are on there.

#15in my eyes, for a serious tuner then you wouldnt leave it in, its another restriction in the exhaust system, so i wouldnt spend thousands of £'s tuning a engine and leave it in
but for a 1.4 road car keep it in, unless you want to take it out, then again i wouldnt buy a 4 branch manifold if im not going to de-cat, whats the point?
