so this morning i moved the car of the drive and found under neath a puddle of oil i then checked the bay and noticed oil all over the block and the down pipe under the engine

what should i check or do first

    new rocker cover gasket
new sump plug , gasket etc

if its not obvious where its coming from then the first thing to do is degrease the area so you can see where its coming from

Worst case is Head gasket...very common, and normally leaks in the corner of the head above the alternator.

Second being rocker cover gasket which is also common but not normally a major leak, just messy over a long period of time.

If its all down the block then you can pretty much rule out the sump being the current oil leak, also check that the oil filter is tight

ebay or pug/citroen. About 45 quid a pop. You sure its warped? Due to the size of the seal I would have thought it'd have to be banana shaped not to seal

If you're going to buy new cam covers just get the JP4 ones, you should be able to get these in good condition for 40£ and they won't leak, try ebay.

Pretty certain the wont fit a 1.1 lol

OP - The rocker cover gaskets are prone to leaking on these. Take it off yourself to check if its warped or not, its only 1 nuts. If its not then you'll just need a new gasket.

Failing that, you can pick one up from a scrappy for peanuts.

Was the bit where the gasket sits on the head absolutely spotless? I had to do my rocker cover gasket on my saxo and i missed a little bit of hardened oil gunk. The cover still leaked but it was fine once I'd got the suface really clean. Hot oil will get through the smallest of gaps.

yeah de greased it then went over it again then again to be sure the guys here reckon i should put a bit of instant gasket down to?
