Exhaust and mpg

   My exhaust makes a rattle sort of noise when I pull away at low revs. Sounds like either something is loose or broke.
   
   Also, my exhaust doesn't look standard. I'm sure when I've seen vtr's before with standard exhaust they have a nice looking tip, mine points down to the ground at 45 degrees looking like a dogs dick hahah!
   
   Also, I'm getting about 22mpg, is this likely to be related? Or shall I change my air filter, as I've done my plugs, oil and oil filter.

   Overfuelling ? Or fuel leak if getting 22mpg
   Even booting it I can still get 30 odd mpg
   
   Exhaust blowing ?, lambda ?

   Sounds like youve got a diesel back box or somthing and thats really bad! I get 50+ mpg! In my Vtr :-o

   flat arch saxo's have a tip that points down, its no differant though.
   22mpg is dire. Most VTRs can get 45mpg.
   Change air filter first.

   Foot isn't buried all the time. I have a black box anyway so can't go too mad. What does the exhaust problem sound like to be? It's not blowing. Shall I get a video?
   
   And ordered an air filter. Failing that, what could it be?

   at 22mpg, I wouldn't even try to wonder what is wrong. Take it to a garage and ask for a full service instead of taking a wild guess, unless you know how to do it.

   meh, could well be either a blown cat converter ceramic filter or your fitting kit needs changing. Any EML showing up?

   I've done oil and filter, plugs and air filter is on the way. Should I do fuel filter as well?

   Yes do the fuel filter!
   You should be doing them all at the same time anyway at regular intervals.
   
   I think there's more too it than just a service tbh if your only getting 22mpg
   
   Are you working your mpg out correctly ?, how many miles you getting to £10-£20 ?

    The fuel filter is worth doing but I doubt its affecting the economy too much. Get it on some diagnostics

    Maybe lambda, I get poor mpg but that's because it's overfuelling and I can change it back whenever I want..
    
    Is your exhaust emitting a lot of smoke? High amounts of carbon etc

    Does emit a bit of smoke yeah but not really black smoke, more grey/whitish.
    
    Getting about 100 miles to 20 litres.
    
    When you say get it on diagnostics, will one of those bluetooth plug in diagnostics do it? Think they are called OMP II or something?
