Gearbox?

  1. #1
    Just a quick question...

Nobody would reply to my thread on peugeot 106 forum as that is what I have...

My gearbox is starting to whine and I'm looking to replace it and do the clutch at the sometime. I have a 1.5l diesel mk2 and was wondering whether other 106 gearboxes would be fine to put on? Ratios a problem etc etc?

    Thanks for any help

Nd of course saxo boxes aswell

Yeah the boxes are compatible (saxo/106) and im sure the vtr and derv boxes are similar ratios... There about the only 2 i would put in it, plump for a derv box tho...

Yes here completely compatible. Try to find a non-sports box though (ie, poverty spec) and don't use a Vtr/VTS/gti box as you'll run into potential diff problems unless you change the shafts too.

Should be able to find a derv box in the for sale section here or eBay

    Edit: ebay and gumtree... Breakers

By the way do mk1 gearboxes work aswell? Aslong as they are the 5 speed one im guessing it's not a problem...

mk1 saxo boxes are yes. Another diesel box, should be cheap to purchase and obviously its got the correctly matched ratios for your engine

All are interchangeable. Even 4 speed etc from ax or whatever. All MA code gearboxes are interchangeable.

As I said above tho, stay with matching sport boxes (Vtr/VTS etc) with sport driveshafts and vice versa.
