saxo vtr not running right! help!!

   my vtr doesn't start very well at times and needs a bump start to get it running, and when it does start it stinks of petrol really bad, like its flooded, then other times it starts perfectly. its had a new coil pack put on it recently so it can't be that! Any suggestions?? Kx

   The starting could be that the battery isn't holding its charge.
   
   Im assuming your gettin the rich petrol smell when you start it from cold ???
   This is because all cars run rich for the 1st 10mins of starting

   If you have a de-cat or something similar theres not always enough back pressure to start it without a couple of attempts but when it does start the petrol from the failed attempt is shot out. Happens on mine now and then.

   no its doin it even when it hot, and the petrol smell is really strong!
   
   Could it not be the fuel pump?
