No exhaust??

My centre section snapped today so iv had to take it off at the manifold. Is it ok to drive without this on ? Also my engine light came on because of this, has it caused damage to the cat or lambda sensor or is it just bringing the light on because the pipes missing ? Its a mk2 so cat is in the manifold.
    Thanks

No you can't drive it around.

Should be okay to drive but you will waste a lot of petrol.

If it's extremely noisy I would avoid the police as I got a fine for mine being too loud due to the exhaust breaking.

it is ok to drive as a needs must, but why would you want to drive it for any longer than needed.

it wouldn't of damaged the cat if it just snapped off due to being rotten.

    just fix it.

Unless your driving it to a garage or to get parts the police may not like you not having an exhaust...

I won't be driving it just for the sake of it but I do need to get work, just didn't want it Damaging anything else... Will the light go out as soon as its fixed ?

Fix it, plug car onto a diagnostics machine, remove code (light will go out) simples

My exhaust snapped at the flange underneath the engine (center section side) halfway up a steep hill drove it back to my parents house (prob 1mile) then up the driveway which is also steep. Then onto a set of ramps unfortunate I had to use high revs to do so.

Made one hell of a racket driving about at 7am woke up a few people but fuck it.

Never had any problems since then with it since so as long as your doing a small amount of miles you should be alright.

I'm sure the police could be a pain and do you for it not being safe on the road as it would be a MOT failure.

The bolts attaching my downpipe to centre somehow snapped off last year so I had to leave my car on a random housing estate over night because police can be a huge pain. Luckily I work at an exhaust place so I just drove it into work the next morning and had it sorted in ten minutes.

get the bus or a lift
unless your going to get parts or fix it then i doubt the police would be too friendly

It won't harm anything driving it, be noisy though. Just put the exhaust in the back and say it just fell off incase you do get pulled. New centre sections can be had for about £20 these days.

My centre section snapped a good few month ago (used supersprint i bought off here) 70 miles from home. It was a absolute NIGHTMARE. It guzzled the fuel like no tommorow and i had a epic headache. It was mucho slower aswell. It felt like i was getting dragged back.

    Id reccomend sorting it asap.
