Grinding noise

  1. #1
Basically whenever my car is revved between 1100-1500 i head a grinding noise which is quite loud from the inside and hear able from the outside.

Any suggestions on what this might be? Really confused

Exhaust heat shield? Alternator heat shield? Cam cover? Lots if things potentially. That low in the revs it probably a vibration but without more detail (like where on the car it's coming from!) gonna be tricky to diagnose

Thanks for the reply. I will try to find out the source of the sound I'm the morning most likely will update when checked

Coming from the bottom of the engine itself and also appears oil is leaking? Any gives as i have little mechanical knowledge

It could be you have worn pulleys for either the timing belt or the alternator belt.

Nothing to worry about. My 1.5D used to make a hell of a grinding at 2800rpm.

Where can you see oil? if it's all over the lower arm and it's black and doesn't smell funny then it's probably your sump or oil filter may be leaking. Could even be a sump plug isn't torqued. you need to find where it's coming from

If it's all over the lower engine mount and it smells like smoked rotten meat then it's gearbox oil, and probably failed driveshaft seals.

    That's my best guess
