Opening the boot from inside

  1. #1
I recently had my rear window smashed and replaced, but now the boot doesn't open, as if you can't press the button fully, so I'm guessing there's glass in the mechanism somewhere. Can anybody suggest how to open the boot from inside?

Take the inner boot panel off and see if you can flick a catch or unbolt the lock

I'm assuming the inner boot panel is the plastic black cover over the inside of the lid?
And then once that's off where do I find the bolt to unlock?

There should be a metal rod (visable when the plastic panel is off)get a pair of pliers & gently pull the rod up.

Just tried that to the point where if I continued I think the rod would bend slightly.

So I tried locking the boot and trying, and realised the button pushes in further when it's locked than when unlocked if that makes sense? Could that be of any resolve at all?

Unbolt the catch from inside (the side attached to the actual car)
