Front Hubs

    Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2? They both list my car as a "compatible vehicle" but I E-Mailed the company with my registration and they are saying the latter one is the one for my car.

    I've had a look on here and keep seeing posts mentioning tapered and flat. By the looks of it, the one on my car is flat so I'm assuming any 4 stud flat hub will fit it? (or does it have to be for a diesel due to different drive shaft sizes?)

    you are correct, two types, flat and taperd, aslong as you have the right hub to match your driveshafts it will be fine

    Is it actually possible to change just the hub? I've just rang a garage and they've told me that you have to replace the entire strut and shock and it's impossible to remove the hub from the strut - This seems a bit far fetched considering you can buy the parts on eBay

    You can 100% change the hub.

    That garage is trying to take you as a mug and get as much as they can out of you.

    What is the problem? Why do you need to change the hub?

    there are 2 types of bearing too - as obviously if your changing the hub your going to need a new bearing.

    Tapered

    Inner Diameter = 37mm
    Outer Diameter = 72mm
    Height = 33

    non tapered

    Inner Diameter = 34mm
    Outer Diameter = 72mm
    Height = 33

    you cant separate the hub from the strut its all one piece...
  6. #6
    you can however change the drive flange

    One of the studs was cross threaded by someone (breakdown I think) and the stud snapped when having a tyre changed. Is it the flange or the hub that needs changing then lol

    Flange/hub same shit.

    Rick just confused matters with technical terms

    Different people call them different things, But yeah the hub/flange gets pressed into the strut with a bearing.

    the drive flange gets pressed into the hub with a wheel bearing. just people get hub and drive flange mixed up

    hes the difference to look out for regarding flat and taper
