Matching rear shocks to lowered beam

  1. #1
Right have finally had the rear lowered 45mm by IM Axles great job they've done well recommended, I had a pair of spax psx rear adjustables lying about that I thought were suited to fit a vts beam but when we measured the fitted shock from centre of top bolt to centre of bottom bolt it was 300mm these spax shocks are around 235mm in comparison.

Whilst looking for replacements no-one mentions a measurement and they all look the same, am I being stoopid or whaat? Can anyone show me a pair that would fit?

    Cheers

I think you would have to compress them to fit.

i think hes saying the spax shocks are 235..

and the existing shocks on the car are 300..

so the spax potentially wont fit as they're 65mm shorter...?

id be interested to know the lengths too as i'm thinking about changing my rear beam and will put some better shocks on at the same time..

Yeah apologies if I was unclear there, the spax are around 65mm shorter which is what I couldn't get my head around?

    Anyone experienced this problem?

I had to jack the radius arm up to get my standard shocks in but not as far as that just 10-20mm

    300mm seems huge
Id be tempted to check again i have a feeling its 200

    they should fit

not really sure which way it is, but can you not compress/extend the spax shock as to suit?

I had no problems fitting spax psx on mine, shouldn't be a problem if they are for a 106/saxo. Can measure it tomorrow if you wish

yeah ^ ive got spax non adjustables on mine and my beam is lowered 85mm lol

Is the axle on the car with the weight on the axle?

I got spax adjustable on my vtr, fitted straight on, no problems.

thanks for comments turns out they were just tight as fook
we spent more time extending the dampers than actually fitting them.
