Gearbox oil

  1. #1
    Hi,

Does anybody know where abouts on the gearbox the plug is for topping up oil on a vtr gearbox? And any specific oil I should be using ?

    Thanks

75w80. 8mm square drive gearbox plugs are on the nearside of the box, one lower and one upper (upper is the level to fill to), or just use the breather on top

Cheers for that mate, looked earlier and for the life of me couldn't see it, can you access it from the top of the engine bay?

yeah the breather is right next to the reverse switch on top. you need 2l of oil

yes but you have to remove air filter box and iirc you have to remove battery off the tray or slide it forward to access the breather cap on top of gearbox

You dont need to remove the battery tray, the breather is further left than that

I just emptied the old oil, replaced the plug and ran a bit hose pipe from the top up plug up the engine bay and poured it through. Less mess.
