Any recommendations for recon gearbox?

    Hi,

Just got my first saxo, it's a 2002 vtr. Bought it knowing it needed gearbox replacing... Bearings had gone and we're rattling badly, just for now I went to the scrappy and got a 2002 second hand box and crossed figures and hoped for the best that I wasn't jumping from frying pan into the fire.

Anyway I'm now paranoid from every noise or slightly off sorts gear change so want to go ahead with a proper replacement ?

Does anyone have any recommendations of any companies who supply decent recon boxes? And is there any upgrades I should consider, maybe even an upgrade new box ?

    Cheers

    Dear Wizzywig,
I have just put a secondhand automatic gearbox in my daughters 1999 1.4Saxo and the car has now been trouble free for 3 months ( no problems what-so-ever)
My advice would be your secondhand gearbox will be fine just as it is. If it 'aint broke don,t fix it. Turn the radio on and forget about it, a recon box would be quite expensive, no point wasting your money.

For what it would cost it's not worth it

Can buy full saxos for what it would cost lol

Second hand one from decent member will be ideal
